Public Project Details

Keystone is being built as a comprehensive operating system for rental property businesses, starting in South Africa and designed to scale across emerging rental markets. The platform brings tenant lifecycle management, rent and payment processing, maintenance coordination, property inspections, and regulatory compliance into a single system, replacing the fragmented mix of spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups, and disconnected tools that most landlords and small agencies currently rely on.

The platform is built WhatsApp-first, meeting tenants, landlords, and contractors on the channel they already use daily, with email and SMS as fallbacks. Artificial intelligence is embedded across core workflows: triaging maintenance requests by severity and likely cause, structuring free-text contractor reports, and comparing inspection photos to flag property condition changes, with further intelligence capabilities planned for arrears prediction and lease renewal risk.

Keystone is designed to serve independent landlords managing a handful of properties and multi-branch property management agencies from the same underlying platform, with compliance for South Africa's Rental Housing Act, POPIA, and the Prevention of Illegal Eviction Act built into the core workflow rather than offered as an add-on.

Development is structured across three phases: a Foundation phase covering core tenant, lease, and payment functionality; an Intelligence phase adding AI-powered maintenance, inspection, and arrears capabilities; and a Scale phase adding multi-user agency features and portfolio-level financial reporting.
